Is providing evidence-based interventions to improve the mental health and well-being of hand therapy clients a struggle for you? The psychological challenges faced by clients after hand and upper extremity injuries pose difficulties for hand therapists.in a high demand, face passed, productivity driven environment. Comprehensive care requires ongoing assessment and treatment of psychological well-being to foster positive outcomes. Cognitive Behavioral Informed Therapy (CBIT) interventions offer a valuable approach to assisting clients in navigating the intricate physical and psychological ramifications of hand and upper extremity injuries. This session will equip hand therapists with the skills to integrate CBIT into their comprehensive programs. Interventions encompass activity rest cycling, values-based goal setting, and support groups, among other things.
The World Health Association views health as the combined state of physical and psychosocial well-being. Hand therapists frequently encounter multifaceted patient needs encompassing physical and psychological health. This presentation addresses the unique interplay between psychological adjustment to physiological impairment. Equipping hand therapists with the knowledge, abilities, and self-assurance to use principles Cognitive Behavioral Informed Therapy (CBIT) will solidify our position as healthcare leaders.

1. Define the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Informed Therapy and its unique application to hand and upper extremity practice.
2. Examine the impact of psychological challenges on patient/client outcomes in a traditional hand and upper extremity practice.
3. Formulate hand therapy intervention plan(s) that include principles of Cognitive Behavioral Information Therapy.
