About me
Dr. Regina Parnell is an Associate Professor in the Wayne State University Occupational Therapy Program. She has enjoyed teaching and influencing the development of new clinicians for over 31 years. She has worked as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for BS, MOT, and OTD students. Her psycho-social expertise allows her to supervise service-learning projects, as students enhance their connection between the classroom and the clinic while presenting therapeutic activities at various community sites.
Dr. Parnell’s primary research interests focus on the health and well-being of minority community members, including homeless children and adolescents. She has study outcomes on the challenges and triumphs of hurried African American mothers in the Detroit area and has broaden the study to now include working mothers from other ethnic groups. She is a current ACOTE RAE member, working to ensure that new and existing OT academic programs meet the educational standards set forth by the profession.
