About me
Dr. Doreen Head is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Wayne State University Professor and has served as the Program Director for 18 years. She has extensive clinical experience working with people across the lifespan managing mental health challenges in both long and short-term treatment facilities. Her experiences enhance the mental health conditions courses that she teaches.
Dr. Head’s research interests include life skills building to promote productive occupations in marginalized communities, work force development, and a life skills study at the Coalition on Temporary Shelter (COTS) with mothers experiencing homelessness. In addition, she collaborates with other faculty research in the Occupational Therapy program and the College of Pharmacy. Projects include working with Rosanne DiZazzo-Miller on Dementia Family Caregiver Training and Randall Commissaris and his research team on various driving safety studies exploring the effects of alcohol, marijuana, and texting using a fixed-base driving simulator.
